It was a little tacky how they kept making him perform circus stunts – the wash sq chess guys and the vegas blackjack were some of the least compelling moments – but the way he sees numbers as shapes and landscapes is really quite breathtaking. I do feel sorry for the original rainman though. Being unable to forget anything you’ve read, having no filter with which to greet the bombardment, seems in many ways like a terrible fate. Ok. Time to get out of bed now.
