MEML notes 8 April 2009

These meeting minutes, created as we were closing in on our demo of the Million Story Building iPhone application, make reference to some ideas we came up with for the next phase of development.

“Building as Sim” refers to the notion of the building having a “mood” determined by the aggregate of the moods of its occupants — for example, if most of the people in the building were to set their status to “grumpy,” the building might manifest grumpiness in various ways — terse interactions, “dark” user interface elements and emoticons, etc; or would it be better if it tried to counter the prevailing emotion, to create some kind of balance? This remains an open question…).

The next few items refer to sensors and other inputs that might play into future versions of the application: pedometers on individual occupants’ phones could stream info to the building, which could then do something with that, and so on.

The final section of these notes refers to a special event that we planned to test-launch some of the characters we created for the ARG. More on that here (password required).
